This is Aishwarya Rai's 11th year at Cannes as a L'Oreal brand ambassador, and her first red carpet outing since the birth of Beti B.
Her post-pregnancy weight had generated a lot of buzz as well as attracted criticism, so there was much curiosity about her appearance at this year's Cannes.
Aishwarya is accompanied by her daughter Aaradhya and mother Brinda Rai. Husband Abhishek Bachchan would not be seen, as he is busy shooting for Bol Bachchan. After Cannes, Aishwarya will be joined by pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya.
The family will then head to Monaco for another festival, which has Rajasthan as its theme. Bal de l'Ete is scheduled for June 22 to 24. The theme of the event is 'Princess of Rajasthan'. The expected VIP guests are Maharana Shriji Arvind Singhji Mewar of Udaipur, and fashion designers Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla and Raghavendra Rathore among others.
For Bal de l'Ete in Monaco, chances are that Aishwarya Rai might turn up in some splendid Indian wear since the theme is 'Princess of Rajasthan'.
